27 March 2011friendly people. Here can find peace and quiet, enjoy great the beach, Amed offers an excellent site for training dives. It has a flat bottom lagoon for instruction and a coral reef only 5 minutes swim away.
Just a few kilometers from Tulamben is Amed, Bali 's main east coast highway, a fairly small bay with a beach of black, volcanic sand, crowded with dozens of colorful jukung, local outrigger fishing canoes powered by sails or small out boards. The reef of Amed curves around a rock outcropping just east of town. Amed is great for all level of divers. The dive sites are easy and relaxing. Divers can dive offer a short “jukung” ride or just off the beach. The underwater life is so dense and the gentle current offers a great number of nutrients to its crowds of fish and soil and hard coral. It is ideal for underwater naturalist and underwater photographers. Some area was badly affected by El Nino view years ago, particularly in the shallow areas, but recovery is progressing. Some big sponges are places of “Laureià Siagiani” schools of Yellow Strip Snapper are common. This place may serve as alternative sites of Tulamben for beginner divers who need some skill polish. There were many marine life such as Anthias, Butterfly Fishes, nudibranch, frogfish and sometimes sharks and some big pelagic. The dive is generally relaxing.
Gili Biaha, Just a few kilometers from Padang Bay is a very small reef island. Gili is mean small island. Gili Biaha also has known as a cave sharks. This is home for many white tip sharks, hiding on the cave. This small shark, grows up to 1.7 meters, and is a thin, gray fish with white tips to its dorsal and tail fins. Although this animal known to be aggressive in some areas, it is not considered dangerous in Gili Biana. The current is quite wild here; sometimes it can form a whirlpool. Some walls and some slopes with a very healthy reef surround the entire island. The 5 different dive sites are easily accessed by. local traditional outrigger boats called “Jukung”. Between dives we return to the Dive Center for the surface interval. The dive sites of Padang Bay offer a great variety. From the novice diver to the diving professional, there is something for every experience level. Padang Bay is a haven for UW photography with a myriad of species that will pose for a portrait, Morray Eels, Leafy Scorpionfish, Anglerfish, Stonefish.
