9 August 2011Petitenget Temple and Beach is situated at Batubelig Hamlet, Kerobokan Customary Village, North Kuta Sub district. To reach the location, visitors can ride motorcycle from Denpasar in a westerly direction and then southwards with approximately 10 km or northwards from Kuta along the Jalan Raya Seminyak, take about 25 minutes drive by motor or car from Bali Ngurah Rai Airport.
Petitenget Temple was established around the fifteenth century and the location was formerly an eerie belt of moor overgrown by shrubs (tenget in Balinese) because it was inhabited by Bhuto Ijo spirit who was bearing the mandate of Pedanda Sakti Wawu Rauh to secure his betel box.
At that time, Pedanda Sakti was in southern peninsula of Bali (now Uluwatu) and then came a villager of Kerobokan to ask for the dry land to be utilized by local community. He advised the villager to establish a shrine for venerating Ida Bhatara Labuhan Masceti and also to make a chamber shrine for Bhuto Ijo as a place to secure and save the betel box of Pedanda Sakti Wawu Rauh. Since thenceforth, the temple was named Petitenget Temple.

On the west side of Petitenget Temple stretches a magnificent white sandy beach and visitors often take advantage of it for bathing and sunbathing. In the afternoon, the scenery is so enchanting to watch the sunset. For convenience of visitors, the location has been provided with ample parking area as well as representative accommodation and restaurant facilities.
