Nusa Dua is one of the major tourist destinations in Bali, located in the southern part of Bali Island. Bali's elite tourist where various important activities such as meetings, conferences, international scale exhibitions are held here. Nusa Dua is approximately 15 km from Denpasar Airport Bali, it only takes about 20 minutes by airport taxi. The road conditions are very good and well maintained. Going to Nusa Dua, you can go through the toll road (bridge road on the sea) or the By Pass Ngurah Rai road. Entering the Nusa Dua complex is marked by a giant spite gate which is patterned with Balinese architecture where at this entrance every cars and motorbikes that enters will be checked by security officers to maintain security.

Nusa Dua translates literally as 'Two Islands' - although they are actually small raised headlands, each with a small temple. But Nusa Dua is much better known as Bali's gated compound of resort hotels. It's a vast and manicured place where you leave the rest of the island behind as you pass the guards. Gone is the chaos of the rest of the island.

Built in the 1970s, Nusa Dua was designed to compete with international beach resorts the world over. Balinese 'culture,' in the form of condensed cultural displays, is literally trucked in nightly in an effort to make it seem like less of a generic beach resort. With more than 20 large resorts and thousands of hotel rooms, Nusa Dua can live up to some of its promise when full, but during slack times it's desolate. Nusa Dua, was designed to be an 'all-inclusive' type of tourist destination.

The Indonesian Tourism Development Centre or ITDC (formerly Bali Tourism Development Centre / BTDC) is a main enclave of world-class hotels, complete with an upmarket shopping complex with well-maintained facilities, and with a luxurious 18-hole golf course, white-golden sandy beaches and many other nearby highlights.

The north island is smaller and there's only one attraction there: the Nusa Dharma Temple. The south island is better-maintained and has a big entrance gate, two open recreational fields, a couple of pavilions, and two monuments. In 1993, the World Tourism Organization sent delegates from 107 countries here to participate in the planting of six species of trees and this is commemorated by a memorial in the middle of the island. Pura Bias Tugel is located not far from the main attraction here - the water blow at the rocky periphery on the eastern side of the island. When the strong current pushes tides against the giant reefs, it creates a massive surge of water that shoots up to 30 meters high. Jogging and picnicking are two popular activities on these two islands.

When entering the Bali Tourism Development Centre Complex, there are three pathways to the beach. The two entrances within easy reach of the Bali Collection's Gate C are the most popular and lead to the public beach between the Grand Hyatt Bali and Melia Bali Villas and Spa Resort. The shore is mostly crowded with locals and you will see food vendors either walking around or stationed at their bamboo stalls. It is covered with white-golden sand and cleaner than the beaches at Kuta or Seminyak. There is also a jogging and bicycle path with an information map of the area. Ride a push bike in Nusa Dua area is a great activities recommended to be done during visit this area. You can rent push bike here.

Tides and currents are not dangerous here but you'll encounter stronger currents if you swim out between the two small islands, making it a great surfing spot. There is also Mengiat Beach, to the south from the public beach, separated by the Grand Hyatt Bali. The resort's beach area and facilities are not open to the public, but you are still allowed to walk there and will get to Mengiat in less than 10 minutes. Mengiat is more of the high-class tourists' choice; it is much quieter and cleaner than the public beach.

The turquoise-blue water is not really for surfing and there are a couple of small eateries serving international food here and beach loungers' rental. It is accessible from the road next to the Inna Putri Bali Hotel, near the gate from Jalan Pantai Mengiat. Lifeguards stand by on both beaches.
